2009 SUMMER CAMP 

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteer Counselors will help supervise a group of individuals with special needs ages 13 and up. Counselors need to be 16 years of age or older. Younger volunteers are welcome to volunteer with an adult present. Community service hours will be signed off for.

*Volunteers do not have to attend everyday

STOP Trip (Saturday Time Out for Parents)

STOP Trips (Saturday Time Out for Parents) take place one Saturday a month and are socially, physically, educationally, and psychologically beneficial field trips.  Space is limited.

To attend you must RSVP on the designated reservation day. Cost has increased to $3/person with lunch provided. Please let us know if you have any financial difficulties.

NIGHTBIRD DANCES

 

Friday, May 22, 2009 - A Night in Hollywood: Be a Star

Themed dances are held one Friday per month from 7-9pm at Eastmonte Park. Refreshments are provided.

Cost has increased to $2 per participant and $1 per companion/family member/guest.

Prizes awarded for dance contest winners, costume contest winners & birthdays! If you have a group home or a large party, please call in advance and we will reserve your group a table(s).

 

THURSDAY NIGHT OUT

 

Westmonte Park from 7-8:30pm
"Thursday Night Outs" are held on Thursday evenings, excluding the 1st Thursday of the month. They are designed to allow participants to get together and just have some fun! Events are held at Westmonte Park from 7-8:30pm. Cost: $1.00 with refreshments. Please

BOWLING

 

Every Monday excluding holidays

Practice is held every Monday, excluding holidays, from 3-5pm at the Altamonte AMF Lanes. Cost is $1.75/game, which includes shoe rental.
 
Scores are recorded throughout the year and trophies are awarded at the Banquet announcing each participant's high score.

 

This months dates: Monday, May 4, 11, and 18.

No bowling on Memorial Day, May 25

 

BOWLING BANQUET
Monday, June 15, 2009 from 6-8pm at Eastmonte Park Civic Center. Cost: $5.00 per bowler & $5.00 per guest. This event will be catered. Each paid bowler will receive a trophy engraved with his or her high score! (Trophies are donated & may vary in size & style)

Payment and Reservations due by Monday, May 11. Checks can be made payable to: The Advisory Board for the Disabled, Inc.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED

 

To help enter Bowling Scores into computer

A volunteer is needed to enter scores into an excel spreadsheet. Task will take 2-4 hours with some knowledge of computers necessary. This project needs to be completed by May 15, 2009. Please contact Nin to sign up to help.

 

SPECIAL NEEDS BELLY DANCING

 

Next Practice on Wednesday, May 20 & 27

TMOur Special Needs Belly Dancers & family members meet the 3rd & 4th Wednesday of each month to exercise & prepare for performances at Westmonte Park from 6:30-7:30pm. Cost: $1.00/person.

 

NO BOUNDARIES 5K

 

To benefit the Advisory Board for the Disabled

Running Changes Everything 5K Run/Walk
Saturday May 2 at 7:30 am
Join us at Eastmonte Park in Altamonte Springs for the Inaugural NO BOUNDARIES 5K. All proceeds to benefit The Advisory Board for the Disabled. This event is hosted by Altamonte Sports and Recreation.

Sports Starting Soon! Volunteers Needed!

 

SWIMMING SEASON
Due to limited space, swimming registration for athletes will be on Saturday May 9 at 11am at St. Mary Magdalen Church - in the Annex. There will be different locations and practices this season, so please try to attend this important meeting. Practices will begin on Saturday May 30 & Sunday May 31.

FALL CLASSIC SPORTS
