BELLY DANCING PRACTICE
Wednesday, July 27
Our Special Needs Belly Dancers & family members meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month to exercise & prepare for performances. Location has been changed to Eastmonte Park from 6:30-7:30pm. Cost: $1.00/person. (Practice held once a month during Jan/Feb and Jun/July)

BOWLING PRACTICES
Every Monday Excluding Holidays 
Practice is held every Monday, excluding holidays, at the Altamonte AMF Lanes  from 3-5pm. Cost is $2 per game. Scores are recorded throughout the year and trophies are awarded at the Banquet with participant's high score.

Bowling Banquet:
 
The celebration was held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Eastmonte Park from 6-8pm. Close to 200 people enjoyed a lovely evening of food, friendship and trophies! Thank you to the VFW for refurbishing trophies for our bowlers and your generous $500 donation to the Advisory Board for the Disabled, Inc. Check out photos of the evening on Facebook.  
 

Special Olympics Bowling:
 
Training scores from Monday's will be collected for Special Olympics eligibility as of Monday, June 20, 2011. Athlete's who wish to participate must sign up before July 25 and have a Special Olympics physical on file before County Games, which will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011.

SPECIAL NEEDS SWIM LESSONS
Ages 3-5 and 6-up

SP-Youth swim 2011Altamonte Springs Recreation will be offering American Red Cross swim lessons to both city and non-city residents with special needs (mental or physical disabilities). There will be classes available in Preschool Levels one through three (recommended for children ages three through five) and Learn-To-Swim Levels one through five (recommended for children ages six and older). All classes are instructed by American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Being our inaugural year, we hope to make this a more regular part of our aquatics program, eventually opening it up to more participants in the summers to come. SUMMER CAMP

 A "COOL" SPOT  TO BE THIS SUMMER

SP- summer campSummer Camp is a "cool" place to be this summer. Campers are having a great time enjoying special guests, swimming and field trips. They recently traveled Wonderworks for arcades and lazer tag. They were also visited by guests from the Martial Arts School of Oom Yung Doe, Canine Companions, Super Awesome Cool Pottery, Mad Science, River Rats College Baseball and the Gaming Truck!

OVIEDO POOL PARTY RESCHEDULED

The Oviedo-Winter Springs Optimist Club and City of Oviedo have been hosting monthly dances on Friday evenings at Riverside Park. Their pool party in June was rained out, but they invite you to join them for their DIVE IN MOVIE on July 8- Rain or Shine! Click here for details

SP- EP OfficeThe Special Community Services' office has been moved to a new building. It is still located at Eastmonte Park, but can be found in the building to the right of the park's entrance gate. The physical address is 837 Magnolia Drive.

Free Sports Training and Competition

IN FALL 2011


NIGHTBIRD DANCES

Fridays at Eastmonte Park 
 
Themed dances are held one Friday per month from 7-9pm. Light refreshments are provided. Cost is $2 per participant and $1 per companion/family member/guest. Dances are normally held at Eastmonte Park, excluding our June pool party which is held at Westmonte Park.

Prizes awarded for dance contest winners, costume contest winners & birthdays! If you have a group home or a large party, please call in advance and we will reserve your group a table(s).

 

*Please bring a canned good to support the Advisory Board's food pantry... Assisting over 80 people per month who are in need.  

 
 
NEW DANCES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN!
The Oviedo-Winter Springs Optimist Club and Oviedo Parks and Recreation now offer dancers on alternate evenings. Please click here for more information.  
THURSDAY NIGHT OUT 

Westmonte Park from 7:30-8:30pm

SP- Cooking"Thursday Night Outs" are held on the 3rd and 4th Thursday of the month. They are designed to allow participants to get together and just have some fun! Events are held at Westmonte Park from 7:30-8:30pm. Cost: $1.00 with refreshments.  

*Please let us know if you will be attending the cooking class.

S.T.O.P. TRIPS

"Saturday Time Out for Parents"

STOP Trips take place one Saturday a month and are socially, physically and educationally beneficial field trips. Cost: $3 per person with lunch provided. Drop off and pick up is at Eastmonte Park. *Feel free to send souvenir money for trips.
